Leading jockey Glyn Schofield will appeal a suspension over his Hobartville Stakes ride on star three-year-old Manawanui.
Schofield was suspended for nine meetings after he was found guilty of careless riding in a controversial finish to the Group Two race.
He is due to start the suspension on Sunday, a day after he rides the favourite Hay List in the $1 million Newmarket Handicap at Flemington.
The ban rules him out of the Randwick Guineas ride on Manawanui.
The internationally-experienced rider, who hasn’t applied for a stay of proceedings, will have his appeal heard on Friday.
Manawanui was first across the line in the Hobartville but lost the race in the stewards’ room to outsider Wild And Proud.
